Value Management is a problem-solving system. It can solve problems and improve results in a variety of situations that occur within the energy industry:

Decisions about resource development and the allocation of assets
Early stage planning and development of energy sites
Equipment design, build, installation, and maintenance

Value Management brings a rigorous approach (the SAVE 6-step process) that leads a team through discovery and analysis (Information Phase), creative search and development (Creative Phase), thorough the evaluation of identified ideas (Evaluation Phase), and the development of real implementable proposals and alternatives that improve value (Development Phase).

Key Requirement: Creative Problem Solving Through Collaboration

Task team collaboration has been demonstrated to be the most successful approach available to generate innovative new ideas, and we know that teams are most productive when there is personal interaction between the team members in an environment designed to support questioning and discussion of the relevant issues and alternatives. This is the heart of successful VM workshops. Our workshops are designed and facilitated with the goal of maximizing team collaboration. The workshop is like a symphony that comes together under the direction of the conductor (VBD facilitator) where the whole is always greater than the sum of the parts.

A critical requirement of the facilitator in these situations is a full grasp of the project technical details, i.e., the ability to comprehend the technical discussions, coherently record those discussions, to recognize major ideas and concepts, and identify which ones need to be further developed to accomplish the goals of the workshop. Effectively leading a group that often includes licensed technical professionals in a technically complex project is most effective when accomplished by a professionally registered peer who can demonstrate a grasp of the technical details and participate in discussions, in addition to the requisite facilitation and VM skill sets required. The technically challenging nature of these projects demands a registered engineer with CVS certification, to facilitate these VM studies.
